I took Lisa on a romantic, quiet, secluded getaway to a Tahitian island that few people knew about, and we were heading down to some kind of luau/show/dinner thing.
As we were walking to the table, under a huge white tent made of some kind of thin material the shuffled ever so lightly in the summer breeze, we bumped into Dave and Adina - they were, totally by coincidence, on the exact same vacation.
Thinking it a bit odd, we walked together, the four of us, to dinner. On the way, we bumped in my parents and my cousins' parents, Johnny Buddha (friend from college) and his wife, Kenn and Jessica, and my cousin Richie and his wife Elizabeth. All by some strange and bizarre coincidence were we all there.
Regardless of the fact that each couple was hoping for a romantic getaway, we all made the best of it and had a really good time.
As the show progressed, I became rather thirsty. I stood up and asked anyone if they wanted anything from the bar, a good 10 minute walk away. Dave, Richie, and Johnny Buddha said they wanted a beer, and everyone else passed. I walked to the bar, and nearly half and hour later I returned with four beers on a nice, silver serving platter.
We all drank and enjoyed, but as time went on we all became thirsty once more.
I stood up again and asked if anyone was thirsty, and I wound up walking back to the bar for four more beers for the same four fellas as last time.
After my long walk over to the bar and back, I was finally on approach to the lively, tented table where everyone was gathered, and my cousin Laura with her husband Todd showed up. They were a bit late, but just as shocked and surprised at the bizarre coincidence of everyone's attendance.
I was about to bring the beers to my friends when Todd sees me, walks up to me, slaps me on the back (as he's often prone to do), and takes one of the beers.
"Todd, that's my beer. I just got it."
"Hey cuz, you can get another one."
"But the bar's so far away, and each of these beers are accounted for. One for Richie, one for Johnny Buddha, one for Dave, and one for me."
He just smiled, cracked open the top of my cold beer, the bottle still wet with its cool, refreshing condensation, and started walking away drinking it.
I was stunned, I delivered the remaining beers to everyone else, and as Dave shared his drink with me, I watched as Todd went through the polite motions of kissing everyone hello and shaking hands and blah blah blah.
The end.
